Valdy is one of Canada’s trusted spokespersons, and a well seasoned performer. Nearly 37 years of relentless concert touring means Valdy knows how to entertain; tailoring each of his shows, as many as 200 a year, to suit his audience. His guitar playing seems effortless, masking an underlying musical complexity that accompanies his distinctive voice as he sings songs that reflect the joys, struggles and accomplishments in all of our lives, spiced with inimitable wry wit.

Valdy has been part of the fabric of Canadian pop and folk music for almost 40 years. A man with a thousand friends, from Newfoundland to Vancouver Island to Texas to New Zealand, he’s a singer, guitarist and songwriter who catches the small but telling moments that make up life. Remembered for Play Me a Rock and Roll Song, Valdy has sold near half a million copies of his 13 albums, has two Juno Awards (Folk Singer of the Year and Folk Entertainer of the Year), a total of seven Juno nominations and four Gold albums to his credit. Valdy first graced our stage in 2002, we're excited to welcome him back for his sixth visit at Northern Lights Folk Club!
