SUMMARY:Steve Dawson with Matt Patershuk opening
DESCRIPTION:Show starts at 8pm\, Doors open at 7:15pm \n\n\n\nOver the past two decades\, Steve Dawson has become such an indelible fixture on the Americana musical landscape that it’s tempting to take him for granted. The music that flows out of him is so natural and authentic that it’s possible to forget all of the toil that went into producing it. Steve is a versatile musician and multi-instrumentalist but is mostly known as a slide\, steel and pedal steel player. He has developed a style and voice on those instruments that can only come from years of touring and working in the studio. While his solo work focuses on the slide guitar in its many forms\, and displays advanced technique and mastery\, his work in the studio is geared towards the artists that he works with and supporting their vision and songwriting. Artists like Kelly Joe Phelps\, Allison Russell and Matt Andersen have all called on Steve to help realize their vision on stage and in the studio. \n\n\n\nOpener: \n\n\n\nMatt Patershuk is first and foremost a singer and songwriter. He values simplicity\, but also loves to incorporate the small details that bring a story to life\, and make it relatable. Though his songs aren’t devoid of metaphor\, you’ll not be left guessing about what the song is about when you’re done listening. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSteve Dawson\n\n\n\nMatt Patershuk

SUMMARY:Russell deCarle
DESCRIPTION:Show starts at 8pm\, Doors open at 7:15pm \n\n\n\nYou may remember Russell deCarle as the lead vocalist and bassist of the iconic Canadian country roots band Prairie Oyster.  For some artists\, the urge to make solo records asserts itself almost as soon as they start to gain attention as part of a successful band\, not so for deCarle. “For decades people were asking for a solo record\,” he says\, “but I never thought I was ready and the band always satisfied the musical part of my life.”But that was then and this is now. “I want people to be emotionally invested in my songs\, whether I wrote them or whether they were created by others.  If they touch audiences in some way — well\, that’s the best thing that could happen.” It’s his personal objective whenever he performs. “I’m a music lover first and foremost — a product of all the stuff I’ve ever listened to — and my tastes are very broad.”  So join Russell – sink into his songs that touch the heart\, celebrate the truth\, and provide warmth and company in the noise of the crowd. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRussell deCarle

SUMMARY:Lori Reid + Sam Steffen (double bill)
DESCRIPTION:Show starts at 8pm\, Doors open at 7:15pm \n\n\n\nIn service to the sacred sound\, Lori Reid believes music is to be felt rather than heard. What began as a recording debut with 2003’s RADIO\, developed into a 20 year\, 3 album recording residency as one-third founding member of the fates. Now into a second album recording relationship beginning with Temperance Hotel (2012) with Colin Linden\, Reid has most recently released Gold\, the first single from the forthcoming The Elements (2025). \n\n\n\nSam Steffen is a singer-songwriter whose songs are the torch-wood for a new generation of folk music that has learned from the best stuff in the tradition.  Originally from the US\, Sam’s versatile musicianship\, finger-picking and storytelling has made him an outstanding voice in the Americana folk genre.  He has collected a vast arsenal of original music that ranges from the personal to the political.  His songs have been featured in radio programs\, podcasts\, academic lectures\, political protests\, worship services\, bars\, restaurants\, coffeehouses\, concert venues\, festivals\, street corners\, weddings\, funerals and living rooms.  He currently lives in Edmonton with his wife and dog. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLori Reid + Sam Steffen

SUMMARY:Roy Forbes
DESCRIPTION:Show starts at 8pm\, Doors open at 7:15pm \n\n\n\nRoy Forbes is one of Canada’s best loved songwriters and performing artists. The last few years have been a challenge for Roy. Having dealt with poor vision all his life\, Roy was blinded by an accident in 2015. He may have lost his sight but not his vision. As Roy began getting used to a life without site\, new songs began to emerge – full of wisdom\, confessions\, vulnerability\, sensuality\, self-reflection and celebration.  Roy’s voice is still every bit as original as when the “kid full of dreams” first hit the big city over fifty years ago. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRoy Forbes

SUMMARY:Martin Kerr - Sold Out
DESCRIPTION:Show starts at 8pm\, Doors open at 7:15pm \n\n\n\nSOLD OUT \n\n\n\nBritish/Canadian singer-songwriter Martin Kerr might be the only artist in the world to have played 400 live shows during the pandemic. When Covid-19 cancelled touring plans\, he launched Stay Home Street Concerts to bring music and joy to the people who needed it the most. From driveways\, balconies\, and front lawns\, every show finished with the whole street singing ‘You’re Amazing’\, his uplifting\, instantly singable hit\, which climbed to #4 on Spotify. His new album “Don’t Listen To Me” was recorded across North America\, in Vancouver\, Nashville and his adopted hometown of Edmonton. The songs are inspired by gratitude for real love\, the pain of loss\, and seeking hope and balance in turbulent times. The heart of these songs is intimate\, honest and poetic. Rooted in isolation\, yet longing for connection\, adventure and hope. In a few short years Martin has gone from busking on street corners to selling out major theatres\, playing festivals and landing his album in the Canadian Top 10. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMartin Kerr

SUMMARY:Big Little Lions
DESCRIPTION:Show starts at 8pm\, Doors open at 7:15pm \n\n\n\nBig Little Lions is an award winning duo\, born out of a collaboration that won them a JUNO Award in 2014. Since then they have been cranking out infectious folk pop songs that are jam-packed with emotion and tight harmonies that sound like the product of two people working side-by-side instead of living in different countries. Their recordings have garnered them awards and nominations including the CFMA Ensemble of the Year\, Independent Music Awards Americana Song of the Year and the John Lennon Songwriting Competition Song of the Year. The duo consists of Paul Otten and Helen Austin\, both hugely prolific songwriters – their music has been placed in hundreds of movie trailers\, ads and network TV shows. Their live show is quite the spectacle with Paul playing drums\, bass and keyboard all while singing lead vocals. Helen\, who is no slacker either\, sings\, plays guitar and foot percussion. They use every limb\, and then some\, to make two people sound like a full band. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBig Little Lions

DESCRIPTION:Show starts at 8pm\, Doors open at 7:15pm \n\n\n\nIt’s been three years since Connectivity debuted at #1 on the UK download chart\, propelling the fiercely independent Grace Petrie to the main stages of major festivals and venues across Europe\, Australia and Canada\, mesmerizing audiences with the ferocity of her socially urgent lyricism and the barnstorming power of her live show. Now the songwriter is back – stronger\, older and a whole lot angrier than ever before with a new CD “Build Something Better”. Petrie is hailed as Britain’s most relevant political songwriter\, a “millennial’s Billy Bragg” (Huffington Post). In a world that seems to make less sense than ever\, these are songs made to both holler along to from the crowd and to tear up with on a lonely night train. A record for everyone whose broken heart beats for\, and whose boots stomp in time with\, the hope of a brighter tomorrow.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGrace Petrie

His most recent album The Story That Lived Here was number one on the CKUA radio chart and was in the top ten of the national college charts in Canada. \n\n\n\nOriginally from Belfast\, Northern Ireland\, Eileen Laverty’s family emigrated to Canada when she was six and\, while she calls herself a Prairie girl\, her Irish roots run deep. Her music career began with a traditional Celtic band\, and it wasn’t long before she struck out on her own performing solo in folk clubs and taverns and trying out her own originals. Laverty’s unique brand of folk music has led to television and film features\, and landed her performances with a diverse range of artists..  Since Eileen’s retirement from teaching a few years ago she has been able to fully focus on her music – and enjoy life a bit more! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBen Sures\n\n\n\nEileen Laverty

SUMMARY:Newberry & Verch
DESCRIPTION:Show starts at 8pm\, Doors open at 7:15pm \n\n\n\nJoe Newberry grew up in a family full of singers and dancers. He took up the guitar and banjo as a teenager and learned fiddle tunes from great Missouri fiddlers. April Verch grew up listening to her Dad’s country band play for dances in the Ottawa Valley. She started step dancing at age three and fiddling at age six. The two musicians became masters of their traditions and now tour the world with their respective bands and projects. Yet they never forget the roots of their music\, that connection to the people in the audience\, on the dance floor\, and to the community sparked by a good song. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNewberry & Verch
